Some kind of news!
Dear World.
It has been some time since we have wrote a blog or updated our website. News regarding all things arrah and the ferns is scarce these days, and I apologize. As our shows on the calender come and go, and new ones do not appear, I report to you now of what I know, hope for, and foresee of this band.
We have two shows left on the calender this year. I firmly believe that these two will be the last two of 2007. In the last 14 months, we have played over 130 shows locally and around the country (the eastern half anyways) in support of our debut album, Evan is a Vegan. Now it is time to get serious about our second album. There is not much that I can say about the new album because, to be frank, we do not know much ourselves. We have a large pool of new songs that we play live and are ready to be recorded. However, we have yet to finish writing a few others before we can even begin to think about the recording process. And in order to finish writing, we need to be resourceful with what little time the four of us can get together. Thus, I tell you, no more shows.
I can only hope that by the holidays, we will have a good start to the recordings, and quite possibly be in post-production stages. But time will tell. The more focused we become right now, the sooner we will gain an idea of a timeline(of sorts). It has been a difficult adjustment having Dave living two hours away this semester --and continuing shows---all the while, trying to write new songs (that might have been hard to follow). To break it down, it's been too much for all of us. So now we are going to streamline our creative energy and free time into this album. We hope that you all will understand and recognize our need to do this.
Thank you for your patience and continued support. I think all four of us would agree that we have never been so excited to play and make music in this band. We've evolved and expanded our sound in what we feel is better than ever, and we cannot wait to share a new album with you. As soon as we actually start making progress, I make a vow to keep the internet world in loop of the new album and every level of it's creation.
be good to each other.
love, Arrah

Here comes summer!
Hello all,
We hope spring is finding you well. We're enjoying a range of "a little too hot" to "breezy and just right" beautiful spring days here in Ol' Muncie. We saw Spiderman 3 last night and we give it 6 thumbs up! So if you love a rad hero flick with a darn good love story sling a little web and go check it out.
We'll be playing the Adjust Your Eyes festival in Cincinatti this Saturday on the outdoor stage at 10:30 pm. If you live in the area you should really check out both days as a lot of our label mates/other Indiana friends will be playing. I can't think of a better way to get acquainted with the Muncie/Indy scene (as well as TONS of other great bands) and get some sweet tan lines at the same time. We're looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones in our sister state before we take a little summer hiatus to work on our gardens and play in fire hydrants.
Finally we're squeezing in one last Village Green show in this week. It will be this Sunday, May 20.
Have a great summer!
love,
Arrah and the Ferns

Season Greetings!
So, it's been a long time since we've updated--oops! If in the future we go several months without updating this site again, please visit our official unofficial website--our myspace where we [very] frequently update the band happenings.
Band happenings to report are as follows:
1. We have successfully completed our first national tour (many moons ago) and returned in August.
2. Then, we drove out to Colorado to play South Park Festival in September.
3. Since then, we have been playing as much as possible in the local/regional area to promote our newly released CD, Evan is a Vegan, while dabbling in academics (Ball State for Arrah; Culinary Art School for Dave) and real jobs (Carl is a one-on-one aid for a special needs elementary student).
4. We also wrote and recorded a Christmas track for Standard Recording's "A Very Standard Christmas" compilation that will be released this Tuesday, November 28th (Arrah's mom's birthday).
5. We were recently featured in the Indianapolis Monthly December issue--the "BEST OF" issue--as "The best local band you've never heard of." Check it out (pg 105)!
But, so much school, work, shows, and pre-marital counseling (concerning arrah--for she also got engaged to Joey Ozinga in October--they are to be wed June of 2007), the three of us have decided to take next semester off of school to focus on lots of touring! Hooray!
With that said, we plan to tour much of the month of February, but the dates are still pending. Nothing official is booked, so we need your help! On our myspace, and in the shows section, are the tentative dates and locations. If you have any suggestions, heads up, lodging invitations, or show offers, please E-Mail Arrah OR, visit our myspace and send us a message. OR, email Kevin Phillips at Standard Recording Company (visit standard's site!)
I think that is all of the band happenings in a nutshell. Again, visit our myspace and check the shows page for more updates (is it sad that we use myspace more often? hope not!)
Until next time, take care!
Love,
Arrah

GREETINGS FROM THE ROAD!! We are in the midst of the Arrah and the Ferns summer tour 2k6 (our first tour ever). We left nearly two weeks ago on July 20th. We are now into our final third leg of the journey. I am personally very sad that it is coming to an end.
This will be a generic entry. Tour is good. We are having fun. Dave and Carl have been nice to me. Our bowels are all working wonderfully still...even after eating at a Shoney's somewhere in Kentucky with our friends Holographic Angels. They were out on the road with us the first 4 nights. Sadly, they had to head back to their hometown in Portage, IN. Justin had to work.Who works these days? Not me. I'm on a vaca.
Right now I am sitting on a couch at a venue called Boba's in Akron, OH. There is a band playing right now. They are very loud. A little too loud for my dainty taste. But they are sports. We are up next so I have to go...
..I have a milliion stories to tell about tour thus far but they will have to wait until the next wi-fi hot spot or when we return August 10th.
Thanks to all of those who have made it out to our shows the past few weeks....and thanks if you have purchased our CD since it's release last week!
We love you! thanks for all the support...more to come asap!
Love and rainbows and peaches and gumdrops and dutch blitz!
Arrah

July 2, 2006:
Hello Hi Hi Hello Hey Ahoy
We have lots of news:
First, our website. It is new. Welcome to the future. Thank you to Charlie and Cheryl for the splendid work.
Second, our album, "Evan is a Vegan," is coming soon! July 22nd to be exact. We will be having a CD release party/ tour kick-off show at the (new) Midtown Luna Music in Indy. This is located on the corner of College and 52nd St. Show starts around 5pm. CD's are $9 at the show (But here's a secret, you can pre-order the album now at Standard's website for only $8) .
Third, our tentative tour schedule is up on the site and on our myspace. We still have a few dates to fill. We will be leaving after our release party on the 22nd and will return August 10th.
In other news, today I saw a snapping turtle while riding my bike by the BSU arena. He was crabby but i gave him a high five anyways.
I also chased a goose in Broad Ripple tonight and it was a dream. Then we bought milk shakes and I couldn't finish mine.
Carl is in Idaho. He is harvesting potatoes to distribute on tour. I miss him. Did you know that we are going to be roomates in the fall? I think that I am going to live in the attic.
Dave is cute, as always. He recently adopted a kitten named Paul. We wish we could take him with on tour but Dave's mom will be catsitting. We will be taking Evan, the Vegan herself, with us for half of the tour, and Holographic Angels for the other half.
Kevin Phillips has aquired a new nickname: Lil Nugs. Be sure to send him emails with this in the subject line. Send him my love.
That is all. Bye! I love you.
Arrah
